چکیده
This work considers the gravitational instability of a saline boundary layer formed by an evaporation-induced flow through fully-saturated porous slab. Evaporation waters can eventually result in formation salt lakes as accumulates. As natural convection impede accumulation salt, establishing relation between its occurrence and value physical parameters such evaporation rate, height slab or porosity is crucial. One step towards determining when instabilities arise to compute ground-state salinity, that evolves due uniform upwards caused evaporation. The resulting concentration profile exhibits sharply increasing near surface, which lead gravitationally unstable setting. In this work, ground state analytically derived within framework Sturm-Liouville theory. Then, method linear stability conjunction with quasi-steady approach employed investigate instabilities. These develop grow over time depending on Rayleigh number dimensionless medium. To calculate critical number, determine particular system, eigenvalues perturbation equations have be computed. Here, novel fundamental matrix proposed solve eigenvalue problem shown coincide established Chebyshev-Galerkin their shared range applicability. Finally, 2-dimensional direct numerical simulation full equation system via finite volume validate onset convective predicted Moreover, fully nonlinear patterns are analyzed.

Transport of acridine in saturated porous media.
The effects of the aqueous solution pH, temperature, initial solute concentration and non-equilibrium processes on the transport of acridine in saturated porous media (silica) were investigated in a series of continuous-flow column experiments. The enthalpy of the adsorption reaction was more exothermic when the solution pH was above acridine's pKa (5.6) than when it was below. The extent of ad...

E orts to extend the theory of poroelasticity to semilinear and nonlinear elastic response, to partially saturated pores, to inhomogeneous solid frame materials, and to viscous losses due to localized ow e ects are summarized. The prospects for a comprehensive theory of wave propagation in partially saturated porous media and the reasons for needing such a theory are also discussed. The main re...

This column reviews the general features of PHT3D Version 2, a reactive multicomponent transport model that couples the geochemical modeling software PHREEQC-2 (Parkhurst and Appelo 1999) with three-dimensional groundwater flow and transport simulators MODFLOW2000 and MT3DMS (Zheng and Wang 1999). The original version of PHT3D was developed by Henning Prommer and Version 2 by Henning Prommer an...
